When asking for a script – our suggestions
Most vets are happy to provide a prescription to their clients, and prescriptions are requested every day.
When asking for a prescription, here are some tips to keep in mind:
They’re not obliged to write you a script on request. It’s their choice, and they may require examining your pet in person.
Sourcing affordable medicine is in the interest of the pet. Most vets will prioritise the cost and experience over personally selling th...

Q. Can I purchase a prescription medicine without a prescription?
A. You must have a valid written prescription from an Australian veterinarian. The prescription indicates the dose, dosage frequency and duration that your pet requires the medicine and other important information our Dispensing Pharmacists need to dispense your order. If you don't have a prescription, you'll need to ask your vet. Read more on how to ask your vet for a prescription here . We are requi...

My vet put my dog on Apoquel. What does that mean?
As we all know, occassional itching is a fact of life for dogs.
However allergies (fleas, environmental, food and contact) and the condition of your dogs skin (infection, dryness, oilyness) may sometimes cause more frequent or constant itching and scratching, with changes in skin colouration, changes to body odor and hair loss indicating a serious condition in your dog.

How do I get a script?
A script is made available by most Australian vets.
You can ask your vet for a script when they next prescribe a medication for your pet. Some vets charge a fee for writing their script.
Though we don't recommend any vets in particular, we can recommend calling ahead – most vets will oblige.
Are you comfortable getting a script?

With over 25 years of experience as a veterinarian and retailer of pet health products, our Managing Director and Chief Veterinarian, Dr Mark Perissinotto BVSc, launched PetScripts in early 2016.
Dr Mark knew that many Australian pet owners just like you wanted to be able to buy prescription pet medicines online, because of the convenience that gives and the cost savings an online retailer could pass on.
We do however know that it's not all about cost and convenience, Dr Mark, our pharmacists and...

What is a prescription?
A prescription, also known as a script, is always required to purchase prescription medication.
By law, PetScripts is required to physically receive the vet's original prescription. A photo, scan, fax, or emailed copy alone is not sufficient.
